The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Penn State University is seeking applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track teaching faculty role specializing in structural engineering. The selected candidate will be responsible for instructing courses related to structural engineering and associated geotechnical engineering subjects. Additionally, the candidate will engage in departmental service activities, including advising student organizations and participating in departmental committees.
REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate will possess relevant design experience and hold either a master's or doctoral degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline. Furthermore, candidates should be licensed or in the process of obtaining licensure as a professional engineer (P.E.) and have demonstrated teaching proficiency through academic courses, professional presentations, or similar experiences.
The appointment will be made at the appropriate faculty rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Teaching Professor, with rank and term length determined by education and experience. This is a term appointment with potential for renewal.

The vision of the CEE Department at Penn State is to enhance the quality of life for all through sustainable and resilient civil infrastructure systems. The CEE Department is a dynamic unit comprising 35 faculty members, 14 staff members, over 460 undergraduate students, and more than 120 graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Our programs are highly regarded, with undergraduate specialties in civil engineering and environmental engineering ranked 13th and 15th, respectively, and graduate programs ranked 19th and 21st. The department boasts distinguished faculty, including 11 NSF CAREER Award recipients and a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
