Your Contribution

As a Laboratory Service Engineer at Lam, you will play a crucial role in the upkeep and enhancement of equipment within our applications lab, specifically for the Metrology Core engineering equipment team. This is not an ordinary laboratory; you will engage directly with cutting-edge technology, performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration tasks. Your support will be vital in maintaining innovative equipment that directly aids engineering teams, making you a key player in the success of our technology.

In this position, you will assist in the testing, modification, fabrication, and assembly of SEM/STEM sample systems, along with specialized Metrology equipment, contributing to the development of next-generation semiconductor tools for our clientele.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate within a research and development environment, executing preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and calibrations on equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electromechanical, electronic, and vacuum systems.
  • Safely manage hazardous gases and liquids, adhering to required safety protocols and using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process development, hardware, and software engineering, on R&D projects, customer demonstrations, and equipment support.
  • Install and support prototype systems, developing necessary procedures and documentation.
  • Maintain clear communication and alignment on priorities across tasks that may vary in consistency and urgency.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience; or
  • Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent military training with 7+ years of applicable experience; or
  • 9+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficiency in SEM/FIB operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) systems is highly desirable.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience maintaining semiconductor equipment, particularly metrology tools.
  • Familiarity with operating or maintaining Hitachi, Thermo Fisher (formerly FEI), and Zeiss SEM/STEM equipment.

Compensation

The salary range for this position in the California, San Francisco Bay Area is $65.87 per hour. Actual salary may vary based on factors such as location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparisons to other employees in similar roles.
