Today's complex challenges require unique skills and expertise. We are seeking a talented Advanced Metrology Engineer to join our innovative R&D team.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Advanced Metrology Engineer to develop and implement advanced metrology solutions for CD, profile, and topography using FIB and CDSEM tools. The successful candidate will work closely with process R&D engineers and support daily metrology measurement operations for all development projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide metrology support for the R&D of advanced magnetic recording head wafer level processes, utilizing measurement tools such as FIB, TEM, and CDSEM.
  • Collaborate with other R&D engineers and tool vendors to develop new metrology solutions with advanced algorithms.
  • Support daily metrology measurement operations for all development projects.
  • Work in collaboration with a dedicated manufacturing metrology team to ensure seamless integration and support.

Requirements

  • Master's or advanced graduate degree in Physics, Materials Science, or other related science fields.
  • Experience in the metrology field to support research and development or manufacturing in high-tech industry or a related research environment. Familiarity with metrology technologies such as AFM, FIB, SEM, and TEM.
  • Experience with process technology such as Ion beam milling, or Ion Beam Deposition is a plus.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using industry-standard solutions.
  • Experience with programming languages is desired.
  • Effective communication skills in all aspects; proficient in English speaking and writing.

  • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York. This range may be modified in the future.
  • You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital's Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance. Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program, and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan.
