Northrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for a Software Engineering Manager - Cyber and Software Operations. This position will support the Strategic Deterrent Systems Division.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess staffing requirements, both current and future, collaborating with team leads to address these needs.
  • Support recruitment efforts, including requisition creation, interview conduction, and offer approvals.
  • Collaborate with program leaders to establish personal, program, and functional objectives, conducting performance evaluations and merit adjustments for team members.
  • Provide career development guidance, mentoring, and necessary disciplinary actions for subordinates.
  • Acquire essential computers, equipment, and tools to enable team members to perform their duties effectively.
  • Develop training plans tailored to program and team member needs.
  • Ensure regular communication of company and organizational updates to the team, representing the organization appropriately.
  • The candidate will have 80% technical responsibilities, leading teams that develop, modify, and maintain systems following engineering best practices and standards. This role may include Cost Account Management and Risk Management duties.
  • Establish and promote high standards for engineering development.
  • Foster a work environment that reinforces accountability to Northrop Grumman's core values, emphasizing integrity, quality, shared success, and innovation.
  • Collaborate with engineering and program management peers to ensure efficient resource allocation to meet key mission priorities.
  • Coach, support, train, and motivate team members to maintain high performance levels.
  • Initiate and lead continuous improvement initiatives to establish high-quality and efficient DevOps/Development processes.
  • Collaborate with peers and management in resource planning and hiring activities.
  • Work with team members to lead automation and integration of functionalities with other software environments.
  • Automate scheduled tasks to minimize labor-intensive activities.
  • Utilize the Atlassian application suite and other pipeline tools as required. This position entails functional management responsibilities alongside current program duties, with functional management comprising 10% to 20% of the candidate's time.

This position follows a standard 9/80 work schedule.

The 9/80 schedule allows employees to work nine-hour days from Monday to Thursday, taking every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.



Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience; a Master's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience; or an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

US Citizenship and an Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date within the last 6 years.

At least 1 year of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule. 3+ years of experience with phases of the software development life cycle and Agile software development.


Preferred Qualifications:
Active Secret Clearance. Program Access. Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance. 3+ years of experience leading a team, including mentoring and coaching.
Experience with individual contributor performance assessments.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Strong critical thinking and logical reasoning skills with the ability to resolve issues and anticipate potential programmatic and technical risks.
  • Master's degree in engineering.

General understanding of NG Engineering Processes.

Working knowledge and/or experience across engineering disciplines.

Experience with ICBMs.

Experience managing an engineering team is preferred.

Familiarity with Agile engineering and Jira.



Salary Range:
$147,000 - $221,800.00. The above salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
