Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Software Engineering Manager for Cyber and Software Operations. This position will support the Strategic Deterrent Systems Division.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess staffing requirements, both current and future, collaborating with team leads to address these needs.
  • Support recruitment efforts, including requisition creation, interview conduction, and offer approvals.
  • Collaborate with program leaders to establish personal, program, and functional objectives, conducting performance evaluations and merit adjustments for team members.
  • Provide career development guidance, mentoring, and necessary disciplinary actions for team members.
  • Ensure the acquisition of essential computers, equipment, and tools for team productivity.
  • Develop training plans tailored to program and team needs.
  • Communicate regularly with the team regarding company and organizational updates, representing the organization effectively.
  • Lead teams responsible for developing, modifying, and maintaining systems, adhering to engineering best practices and standards, with 80% of responsibilities being technical.
  • Set and uphold high standards for engineering development.

  • Collaborate with engineering and program management peers to ensure efficient resource allocation to meet key mission priorities.

  • Utilize the Atlassian application suite and other pipeline tools as necessary. This role encompasses both functional management and current program responsibilities, with functional management comprising 10% to 20% of the candidate's time.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience; a Master's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience; or an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

US Citizenship and an Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date within the last 6 years are required.

At least 1 year of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedules, along with 3+ years of experience in the software development life cycle and Agile methodologies.


Preferred Qualifications:
Active Secret Clearance, Program Access, and the ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance. 3+ years of experience leading a team, including mentoring and coaching, as well as experience with individual contributor performance assessments. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are essential, along with critical thinking and logical reasoning abilities to address issues and foresee potential programmatic and technical risks.
  • Master's degree in engineering.
General understanding of Northrop Grumman Engineering Processes, working knowledge across engineering disciplines, experience with ICBMs, and experience managing an engineering team are preferred. Familiarity with Agile engineering and Jira is also advantageous.

Salary Range:
$147,000 - $221,800.00. This salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay, designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may qualify for Long Term Incentives.
