Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is essential in conducting initial assessments for individuals seeking services. The specialist will facilitate referrals for the assessment process and other relevant services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of a High School Diploma is required, along with at least one year of relevant experience. The candidate must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret clinical documentation, procedures, or regulatory guidelines. Strong writing skills for report generation and documentation of clinical activities are necessary.

Effective verbal communication skills are crucial for providing information and addressing inquiries from managers, clients, service providers, family members, and the public. The ability to foster and maintain positive interpersonal relationships is vital for effective collaboration within a clinical team.

Flexibility and effectiveness in a fast-paced, demanding environment are essential.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is based in a general office and healthcare setting. Work is primarily performed seated at a desk utilizing standard office equipment. The environment is fast-paced, requiring multitasking and a team-oriented approach.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Facilitating access to behavioral health services by directly communicating with clients and their significant others in a timely and efficient manner.

- Scheduling appointments in accordance with program guidelines.

- Conducting brief triage screenings of potential clients that meet established funder expectations and regulatory standards.

- Demonstrating knowledge of the DSM-5 and identifying symptoms that necessitate behavioral health treatment.

- Connecting clients with resources that address their needs, support continuity of care, and minimize the risk of recidivism.

- Accurately completing required documentation for clinical services in the EMR system, adhering to agency and program guidelines.

- Keeping supervisors informed of relevant client, program, and community issues.

- Timely notification to Managed Care for necessary authorizations for services as required.

- Performing additional duties that are similar, related, or logically assigned to the role.
