POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is essential in conducting initial assessments for individuals seeking services. The specialist will facilitate referrals for the assessment process and connect clients with appropriate resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of a High School Diploma is required, along with at least one year of relevant experience. Candidates should possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret clinical documentation, procedures, or regulatory guidelines. Proficiency in writing reports and documenting clinical activities is essential.

Effective verbal communication skills are necessary to provide information and respond to inquiries from managers, clients, service providers, family members, and the public. The ability to foster and maintain positive interpersonal relationships is crucial for effective collaboration within a clinical team. Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment are also required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is based in a general office and healthcare setting. Work is primarily performed at a desk using standard office equipment. The environment is fast-paced, requiring multitasking and a team-oriented approach.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  1. Facilitating access to behavioral health services by engaging directly with clients and their significant others in a timely manner.
  2. Scheduling appointments in accordance with program guidelines.
  3. Conducting brief triage screenings for potential clients that align with established funder expectations and regulatory standards.
  4. Demonstrating knowledge of the DSM-5 and identifying symptoms that necessitate behavioral health treatment.
  5. Connecting clients with resources that address their needs, support continuity of care, and minimize the risk of recidivism.
  6. Completing necessary documentation for clinical services accurately and promptly in the EMR system, adhering to agency and program guidelines.
  7. Keeping supervisors informed of relevant client, program, and community matters.
  8. Timely notification to Managed Care regarding required authorizations for services as dictated by funders during the triage process.
  9. Performing additional duties that are related or logically associated with the role.
