Financial Operations Manager

Overview:
The Title III Program, previously recognized as the Strengthening Historically Black Colleges and Universities Program (Part B), has been an integral part of the Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) since its inception in 1967. Over the decades, SUNO has consistently received Title III funding, which has significantly contributed to the enhancement of academic programs, student services, faculty development, technological advancements, and overall financial management.
Role Summary:
The Budget Manager/Post-Award Administrator will undertake various financial and budgeting support tasks, including:
- Compiling and preparing budgetary documentation and reports.
- Issuing invoices and calculating debit and credit amounts.
- Posting transactions to the relevant accounts.
- Maintaining and organizing accounting records.
- Inputting data into financial systems and reconciling reports.
This position is fully funded by the Title III-B federal grant, and the individual will assist the Vice Chancellor in executing the objectives of the Title III Program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer online and federal computerized grants management systems.
- Oversee post-award management of external grants, ensuring compliance with budgets and preparing monthly expenditure reports.
- Review and approve requisitions for purchases related to Title III grants.
- Collaborate with Grants Accounting to ensure proper setup and management of new grants.
- Ensure accurate posting of expenditures and timely invoicing to granting agencies.
- Assist in the preparation of budget modifications and revisions.
- Maintain detailed records of expenditures and prepare monthly budgetary reports.
- Ensure compliance with legal and fiscal requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- Experience with accounting systems and proficiency in Excel and Word.
- Strong written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in reviewing and analyzing budgets and financial statements.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state grant funding requirements.
- Familiarity with Financial Software and Banner.
