Job Title: Department Support Specialist

Medstar is seeking a highly skilled Department Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of tasks to support the department, including cleaning and maintaining all areas in a sanitary condition.
  • Receive and store departmental supplies and food, rotating stock and completing inventory as required.
  • Operate the dishwasher, loading and unloading dishes and trays, sorting and stacking washed items according to use.
  • Wash pots and pans and perform heavy cleaning duties, including scraping, scouring, and rinsing of pots, utensils, and equipment.
  • Sweep, mop, strip, and buff floors, collecting and disposing of trash and transporting it to the disposal area.
  • Check and record dishwasher and refrigerator temperatures in accordance with established health and departmental policies.
  • Wipe down tables, chairs, table tents, and supplies, fill and/or wipe down the salt and pepper shakers in the public seating area of the cafeteria.
  • Refill the condiment racks in the serving area as needed.
  • Maintain the safety and sanitation standards of the department at all times.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of directly relevant job-related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
  • 0 to 6 months experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Requires the ability to read, write, and perform basic addition and subtraction.
  • Requires the ability to comply with basic oral and written instructions.
