Job Summary

The Department of State - Agency Wide is seeking a highly skilled Paralegal Specialist to support the Office of the Legal Adviser. As a key member of the team, you will provide litigation support, conduct legal research, and assist with court filings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Extensive Research: Utilize various legal and non-legal databases to locate relevant data, precedents, and decisions.
  • Prepare Comprehensive Reports: Draft litigation reports, legal documents, and digests of selected decisions or opinions.
  • Consult and Coordinate: Collaborate with DOJ Assistant U.S. Attorneys and defense counsel across the country to make recommendations regarding case handling.
  • Prepare Responsive Materials: Develop materials for production in litigation and administrative proceedings, evaluate law enforcement privileges, and coordinate with Department FOIA teams.
  • Draft Correspondence: Prepare letters, memoranda, and emails, including correspondence with opposing counsel in litigation matters.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Qualifications: Must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service, providing knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
