Job Summary

The Senior Field Service Technician will play a critical role in delivering exceptional customer experiences at our service locations. This position requires a highly skilled and customer-focused individual who can provide top-notch technical support and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pre-production vehicle builds by assisting cross-functional teams
  • Travel to locations to provide on-site support as needed
  • Operate remotely to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Follow Rivian's repair procedures to ensure quality and safety
  • Diagnose, repair, and inspect vehicles to meet high standards
  • Utilize strong understanding of schematics and diagrams to resolve complex issues
  • Perform vehicle repairs in various settings, including outside of service centers
  • Conduct road tests to ensure quality of repairs
  • Manage parts operations, including ordering, receiving, shipping, and inventory
  • Stay up-to-date with technical skills and required training
  • Support campaigns and containment initiatives
  • Provide high-level administrative support using Microsoft Office tools
  • Maintain high-quality work and efficiency while working with minimal supervision
  • Collaborate with a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment
  • Provide service support to the field to enhance the Service organization
  • Ability to perform duties and communicate with a high level of professionalism in a customer-facing environment
  • Support, coach, and mentor other technicians as assigned
  • Additional plant support, including travel, may be required depending on business needs
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Graduated from an accredited automotive repair school or equivalent vocation program preferred
  • Extensive experience in HV diagnostic work
  • 10 or more years' experience working on vehicle high-voltage systems preferred
  • Understands HVIL (High-Voltage Interlock) and the high-voltage architecture
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a shop foreman, team lead, shop supervisor, or trainer preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to root-cause problems and find or suggest solutions
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement Process
  • Experience using test tools (PICO-Scope, PCAN, KavaserMemorator, breakout box, etc.)
  • Extensive experience in bumper-to-bumper diagnosis and repair
  • Ability to drive non-commercial truck and trailer preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time, or as needed
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record
  • No driving-related suspensions or revocation of Driver License (within a 3-5 year period)
  • Parts department and billing experience preferred
  • Experience using a work order management system, including repair documentation
  • Experience working in start-up environments preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, along with attention to detail
  • Physical exertion may be required to perform occupational tasks (sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.)
  • Frequent use of hands for purposes of grasping and using tools correctly, entering data, writing communications, or calling customers or internal partners
  • Ability to read and speak fluent English
  • Ability to see, read, and interpret documents such as governmental regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, or schematics
  • Minimum age of 21
  • Must be available for a regular schedule of 40 hours a week, including weekends and holidays, according to business needs
  • Ability to properly document repairs completed and in process
