Job Summary

The Field Service Technician II will play a critical role in delivering exceptional customer experiences at our service locations. This position requires a skilled technician with a strong customer service focus, able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the support of pre-production vehicle builds, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Travel to various locations to provide support as needed, including production plants.
  • Operate remotely until local service centers are established, if applicable.
  • Follow Rivian's repair procedures with efficiency, prioritizing quality and safety.
  • Perform or assist with assigned diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections on vehicles.
  • Support vehicle repairs in non-service center settings.
  • Conduct road tests to ensure the quality of repairs.
  • Manage parts operations, including ordering, receiving, shipping, and inventory.
  • Stay up-to-date with technical skills and required training.
  • Support campaigns and containment initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate expense reporting as needed.
  • Ensure high-quality work and efficiency while working with minimal supervision.
  • Document repairs completed and in process.
  • Identify areas for improvement and provide feedback to senior technicians or managers.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited automotive repair school preferred.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on work experience, preferably in the automotive field.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools.
  • Basic knowledge of diagnosis and workflows.
  • Able to read electrical schematics.
  • Entry-level diagnostic exposure.
  • Understanding of high voltage and low voltage electricity (basic electricity theory).
  • Able to perform tire repair and vehicle alignment.
  • Ability to drive a non-commercial truck and trailer, preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time, or as needed.
  • Must be available for a regular schedule of 40 hours a week, including weekends and holidays, according to business need.
  • Shifts may include evening, overnight, or early morning hours.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Parts department and billing experience preferred.
  • Experience using a work order management system, including repair documentation.
  • Experience working in start-up environments, preferred.
  • Exhibits patience and eagerness to learn.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, along with attention to detail.
  • Physical exertion may be required to perform occupational tasks.
  • Frequent use of hands for purposes of grasping and using tools correctly, entering data, writing communications, or calling customers or internal partners.
  • Ability to read and speak fluent English.
  • Ability to see, read, and interpret documents, such as governmental regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, or schematics.
