POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Patient Care Coordination Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring seamless patient scheduling, registration, and insurance verification. This position is responsible for managing the ordering of diagnostic tests and coordinating essential outpatient services.

Individuals in this role must demonstrate effective communication skills, particularly during peak times or when dealing with complex patient needs. Additionally, the specialist assists in delivering non-licensed patient care under the supervision of qualified personnel.


WORK SCHEDULE:
Full-time position (40 hours/week), 5 days a week, with no weekend or holiday shifts. Work hours typically range from 8 AM to 6 PM.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Qualified candidates should possess the ability to perform the following essential functions:
  • Patient Registration: Conduct thorough and accurate patient registration for walk-ins, check-ins, and scheduled appointments. Adapt effectively to high patient volumes and varying acuity levels.
  • Patient Financial Responsibilities: Understand and support point-of-service collections, ensuring all necessary functions are performed to collect patient obligations. Provide information regarding co-pays, out-of-pocket expenses, and appointment preparations.
  • Insurance Verification: Verify patient, guarantor, and insurance coverage details. Navigate both electronic and manual verification processes, understanding the nuances of insurance company requirements.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Complete necessary documentation for compliance and regulatory purposes, adhering to all relevant guidelines.
  • Scheduling Complex Cases: Efficiently manage unscheduled patient registrations requiring full financial clearance and resolve issues related to patient scheduling and registration.
  • Supply Management: Order, stock, and distribute supplies as needed, maintaining awareness of cost containment practices.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
May involve travel to various locations within the region to support operational needs. Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in a hospital or medical office setting, particularly in revenue cycle management or administrative roles.
  • Proficiency in clerical and customer service tasks within a highly customer-focused environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and basic office equipment.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Experience with Epic or similar electronic medical record systems.
  • Knowledge of registration processes, point-of-service collections, and compliance regulations.
