Job Overview

HOURS: 40 hours per week - Monday through Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. No on-call, holidays, or weekends.

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for comprehensive and precise patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and coordination of necessary screenings, diagnostic tests, and outpatient services. Must be adept at managing communication effectively during peak times or with complex patient needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Qualified candidates should possess the capability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to execute the following tasks:
  • Conducts thorough and accurate patient registration, including walk-ins, check-ins, and scheduled appointments.
  • Exhibits the ability to adapt and perform efficiently during high-volume periods and/or with patients requiring significant attention.
  • Handles inbound and outbound communications with patients, guests, or relevant parties to deliver services. Manages general patient inquiries and concerns professionally, escalating more intricate issues to supervisors as necessary.
  • Understands and facilitates Point of Service Collections, executing all necessary actions to collect patient dues.
  • Directs patients to the appropriate personnel for inquiries regarding collections, insurance coverage, and financial assistance.
  • Communicates essential information to patients regarding co-pays, out-of-pocket expenses, pre-appointment preparations, and arrival times.
  • Verifies patient, guarantor, coverage, and hospital account details. Completes required referral/authorization processes and enters orders for relevant tests.
  • Possesses knowledge of insurance coverage and referral/authorization requirements of payors. Conducts both electronic and manual verification of insurance coverage and accurately interprets electronic insurance responses.
  • Prepares and/or releases records or orders in the electronic health record system. Scans all necessary documents into the appropriate medical record, recognizing the significance of documented patient medical information.
  • Completes documentation for compliance and regulatory purposes and retains knowledge of all regulatory requirements related to the position and overall operations.
  • Screens and accurately conveys messages using established protocols for urgent, emergent, and non-urgent communications.
  • Demonstrates the ability to register unscheduled patients requiring full financial clearance.
  • Completes assigned patient scheduling and registration tasks according to performance benchmarks.
  • Resolves work queue issues and missing registration items via the electronic medical record system.
  • This role may require occasional regional travel.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • One (1) year of clerical, customer service, or administrative support experience in a highly customer-focused environment.
  • One (1) year of experience with basic keyboarding, personal computer use, and other office equipment.
  • For Regional Positions only - Valid driver's license is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • One (1) year of experience in registration, point of service collection, insurance validation, and understanding of compliance/regulatory guidelines and order release processes.
  • One (1) year of prior experience in Revenue Cycle within a Hospital/Medical Office Setting.
  • Previous experience with Epic or equivalent Electronic Medical Record systems.
