This is a Remote position; however, candidates must reside in Austin, TX, or the surrounding metro area.
Field Property Claims Specialists serve as the primary representatives of Assurant Specialty Property, ensuring that clients receive appropriate compensation in accordance with their policies during times of damage or loss. If you are dedicated to customer service, enjoy assisting others, and can make decisions that benefit both the client and the organization, this role may be ideal for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize investigative skills to assess, adjust, and resolve claims independently with a high level of precision, particularly for more complex situations.
- Operate autonomously from a home office, dedicating significant time to on-site investigations, inspections, and claims resolutions.
- Be equipped to complete inspections while at the client’s location, using technology that grants access to all necessary applications for concluding claims on-site, including coverage analysis, damage estimates, and initiating payments.
- As needed, fulfill the duties of an Inside Adjuster.
- Conduct desk investigations, evaluate coverage and damage issues, and manage Independent Adjusters for physical inspections.
- Maintain ongoing communication, providing status updates to clients and other stakeholders involved in the claims process.
- Perform inspections, provide analytical reporting, draft estimates, and determine policy coverage.
- Engage with clients, actively listening and communicating to resolve issues while negotiating fair settlements.
Special Considerations: The role may involve working in various weather conditions and requires physical capabilities such as standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling as necessary. The territory for Field Claims Specialists may include diverse neighborhoods, some of which may present challenges due to property conditions.
Basic Qualifications:
- An Adjuster’s license is required; Assurant will assist in obtaining this license and cover related expenses.
- High school diploma or GED.
- A minimum of one year of face-to-face customer service experience.
- At least two years of experience in residential property claims adjusting.
- Proficient in scoping and writing estimates using Xactimate.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to navigate multiple screens for data entry.
- Strong organizational skills and empathetic interpersonal abilities for effective collaboration with internal teams and management.
- A relentless commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Strong attention to detail, along with negotiation and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a fast-paced environment, including extreme weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
- Knowledge of basic construction principles.
- Ability to mediate disputes and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Proven capability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing schedules and meeting deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to excellence.
