Job Title: Audit Readiness Consultant

BDO is seeking a talented professional to support a Department of Defense (DoD) agency in key areas including financial oversight, process enhancement, internal control supervision, and audit response related to environmental and disposal liabilities (E&DL) as well as audit readiness efforts.

This position will also involve engagement in business development, practice enhancement, project execution, and fostering client relationships within the Public Sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Quality Control reviews of Cost-to-Complete estimates for environmental and disposal liabilities
  • Aid in the development and updating of Installation Action Plans (IAP)
  • Implement audit methodologies concerning environmental and disposal liabilities
  • Formulate corrective measures for audit discrepancies
  • Assist in financial reporting data requests and Material Change assessments
  • Participate in fiscal year requirements evaluations
  • Interpret environmental regulations for clients
  • Contribute to the creation and reporting of deliverables
  • Revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and templates
  • Update project schedules and data within the SAP system
  • Facilitate cost data entry and reconciliations in SAP

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide a variety of services to the public sector clientele
  • Support business development initiatives
  • Assist clients with financial, IT, and operational transformation projects
  • Adapt to evolving client needs
  • Effectively manage competing priorities
  • Review deliverables for quality and technical precision
  • Engage in relevant training to maintain technical expertise
  • Contribute to recruitment efforts and business development discussions

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Business Management, or Environmental Sciences

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year in accounting, financial, or business analysis roles
  • Preferred experience in federal financial management and program oversight
  • Background in professional services and/or supporting Public Sector clients is advantageous

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Active Secret Security Clearance or capability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance is required
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CISA, CIA, CGFM, CDFM, or PMP are preferred

Software:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) is required; advanced skills are preferred.
Familiarity with SAP-based platforms is advantageous.
