Job Title: Audit Readiness Consultant

BDO is seeking a qualified professional to provide expertise in supporting a Department of Defense (DoD) agency across various domains including financial oversight, process enhancement, internal control supervision, and audit response related to environmental and disposal liabilities (E&DL) as well as audit readiness strategies.

This position will also encompass responsibilities in business growth, practice enhancement, project execution, and fostering client partnerships within the Public Sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the Quality Control assessment of Cost-to-Complete estimates for environmental and disposal liabilities
  • Aid in the revision and creation of Installation Action Plans (IAP)
  • Implement audit methodologies pertaining to environmental and disposal liabilities
  • Formulate corrective measures for audit discrepancies
  • Assist in financial reporting inquiries and Material Change evaluations
  • Contribute to the analysis of fiscal year requirements
  • Interpret environmental regulations for clients
  • Participate in the development and reporting of deliverables
  • Revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and templates
  • Update project timelines and data within the SAP system
  • Support the input and reconciliation of cost data in SAP

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a variety of services to the public sector clientele
  • Assist in initiatives for business development
  • Support clients in financial, IT, and operational transformation projects
  • Adapt to evolving client circumstances
  • Effectively manage competing priorities
  • Review deliverables for quality and technical precision
  • Engage in relevant training to maintain up-to-date technical skills
  • Assist in recruitment efforts and business development discussions

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Business Management, or Environmental Sciences

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year in accounting, financial, or business analysis roles
  • Preferred experience in federal financial management and program oversight
  • Experience in professional services and/or supporting Public Sector clients is advantageous

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Active Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance is required
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CISA, CIA, CGFM, CDFM, or PMP are preferred

Software Proficiency:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) is required; advanced proficiency is preferred.
Familiarity with SAP-based platforms is preferred.
