Job Title: Audit Readiness Consultant

BDO is seeking a talented professional to provide expertise in supporting a Department of Defense agency across various domains, including financial oversight, process enhancement, internal control frameworks, and audit response strategies related to environmental and disposal liabilities (E&DL) as well as audit readiness projects.

In this capacity, you will engage in business development, enhance practice methodologies, oversee project execution, and foster client relationships within the Public Sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Quality Control assessments of Cost-to-Complete estimates for environmental and disposal liabilities
  • Assist in the formulation and revision of Installation Action Plans (IAP)
  • Implement audit methodologies pertaining to environmental and disposal liabilities
  • Formulate corrective measures for audit discrepancies
  • Aid in financial reporting data inquiries and Material Change evaluations
  • Contribute to fiscal year requirement assessments
  • Interpret environmental regulations for clientele
  • Participate in the development and reporting of deliverables
  • Revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and templates
  • Update project timelines and data within the SAP system
  • Facilitate cost data entry and reconciliations in SAP

  • Provide a diverse range of services to public sector clients
  • Assist in business development efforts
  • Support clients in financial, IT, and operational transformation projects
  • Adapt to evolving client needs
  • Effectively manage competing priorities
  • Review deliverables for quality and technical precision

  • Support recruitment initiatives and business development discussions

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Business Management, or Environmental Sciences

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year in accounting, financial, or business analysis roles
  • Familiarity with federal financial management and program oversight preferred
  • Experience in professional services and/or with Public Sector clients preferred

Certifications:

  • Active Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance required
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CISA, CIA, CGFM, CDFM, or PMP preferred

Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) required; advanced skills preferred
Familiarity with SAP-based systems preferred

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Understanding of Army financial management policies, systems, and procedures
  • Ability to effectively engage with individuals at all organizational levels
  • Strong verbal and written communication capabilities
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
