Position Overview:

As a Cashier at Navy Exchange, you will serve as the primary representative of our brand, enhancing our reputation by delivering exceptional customer service. Your role will involve assisting customers in recognizing the value of our products and services while embodying our commitment to customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement:
  • Actively connect with customers to foster a welcoming environment.
  • Inquire about customer needs and attentively listen to their responses.
  • Guide customers to relevant merchandise and inform them about promotions and events.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service consistently.
  • Build and maintain respectful and inclusive relationships while taking responsibility for your actions.
Store Organization:
  • Ensure the checkout area is tidy and well-presented.
  • Assist in restocking bags, packaging materials, and labels as needed.
Sales Responsibilities:
  • Engage with customers to confirm they have found everything they require.
  • Offer personalized suggestions based on current trends and promotions.
  • Utilize a Point-of-Sale system to handle transactions, including cash, exchanges, and various payment methods.
  • Maintain accurate change funds and manage sales receipts.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and reports for reconciliation.
Inventory Management:
  • Oversee merchandise inventory processes and ensure accurate ticketing.
Dependability:
  • Adhere to assigned work schedules and complete tasks diligently.
Additional Duties:
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with products and services.
  • Experience with Point-of-Sale systems is beneficial.
Experience:
  • Previous retail experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Communication Skills:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and interpreting instructional documents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
Mathematical Skills:
  • Competence in basic math operations and the ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
Reasoning Ability:
Capability to multitask while remaining attentive to customer needs and adapting to business demands. Ability to collaborate within a team and take initiative independently.

Physical Requirements:
This role involves continuous movement, communication, and standing for extended periods. Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. may be required. Work is primarily conducted indoors, with some outdoor tasks depending on location.

Other Skills:
Enthusiastic and friendly attitude with a strong desire to provide exceptional service.

Work Hours:
Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

No prior experience is necessary; a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
