Role Overview

In partnership with the Visual Manager, a Visual Merchandising Specialist crafts an emotionally resonant atmosphere through innovative visual design. This role involves conceptualizing, constructing, and implementing both visual and structural displays that align with seasonal themes for both indoor and outdoor settings.

To be considered for this position, candidates must submit a portfolio or samples of their previous work.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Engagement
  • Works alongside the leadership team to enhance Terrain's core values: to welcome, to inspire, to inform, and to appreciate our clientele.
  • Collaborates with the visual team to develop a captivating visual experience that resonates with customers and reflects contemporary home décor and gardening trends.
  • Engages customers through display initiatives on the sales floor; fosters community connections by supporting displays required for workshops and events.
Leadership + Team Development
  • Guides the team by training on visual standards, operational protocols, and management of materials and tools.
  • Participates in store meetings by sharing creative insights, fresh ideas, and relevant brand visual information with the team.
  • Takes proactive steps with each project to enhance display expertise and elevate craftsmanship; assists in identifying and mentoring future display talent.
Visual + Operational Management
  • Engages in the display planning process by sharing inspiration, generating ideas, and sketching; prioritizes tasks and monitors progress while adhering to timelines and budget constraints.
  • Implements seasonal direction and inspiration from the Home Office to address the unique requirements of the store; establishes signage and fixtures that meet presentation standards.
  • Oversees and maintains plant life for all displays, both interior and exterior; ensures cleanliness and organization of all display areas to promote safety for customers and employees.
  • Boosts sales and profitability through impactful designs that emphasize product; contributes to loss prevention efforts by ensuring all display merchandise is properly managed and accounted for.
Communication + Relationship Building
  • Fosters an inclusive work environment by actively listening and valuing diverse perspectives.
  • Builds and sustains productive relationships with team members, promoting a culture of effective communication and collaboration; remains open and responsive to feedback.
  • Maintains regular communication with leadership to ensure alignment on store objectives; demonstrates flexibility by adjusting priorities as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Passionate about the Terrain brand.
  • Artistic background with experience or interest in horticulture, woodworking, and container gardening.
  • Capability to create and install both two-dimensional and three-dimensional displays.
  • High level of craftsmanship with a solid understanding of power tools.
  • Willingness to consistently work early morning shifts during weekdays.

Compensation

Starting from USD $24.00 per hour.
