Position Overview:
As an Environmental Response Physical Scientist at ECO Magazine, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our clients in the field of environmental protection and restoration. This position focuses on providing scientific expertise to address incidents involving oil or chemical spills, which can significantly disrupt marine ecosystems and economic activities.


Role Responsibilities:

In this capacity, you will be responsible for:
1. Utilizing and enhancing models for forecasting the fate and transport of oil spills as part of the emergency response team.
2. Gaining proficiency in the General NOAA Operational Modeling Environment (GNOME), a specialized tool for spill response.
3. Conducting assessments and analyses on pollution behavior, pathways, and potential impacts to inform operational decisions.

Key Duties:

Your primary tasks will include:
1. Mastering ERD's modeling tools to provide essential information for emergency response efforts.
2. Supporting emergency response requests as part of the scientific support team.
3. Contributing to the development and refinement of ERD models and software tools.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Master's or Doctorate degree in physical or environmental sciences or engineering, with a focus on Physical Oceanography, Civil/Ocean Engineering, or Marine Biology.
- A solid understanding of coastal physical oceanography and oil chemistry.
- Experience in numerical modeling and computational programming, preferably in Python, MATLAB, R, or C++.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A proven track record of successful collaboration in interdisciplinary teams.
