Environmental Planning Role

We are Herrera Environmental Consultants, a science, planning, and design consulting firm dedicated to working with clients to develop holistic solutions that provide social and environmental benefit. Our team is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner to lead environmental planning tasks and projects, including Environmental Impact Statements, comprehensive plans, permitting, and more across various areas such as solid waste, transportation, and restoration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Effectively communicate with staff, clients, and teaming partners and act as a trusted professional
  • Prepare and manage NEPA and SEPA documents and supporting plans
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving to develop environmental planning documents potentially including comprehensive plans, land use plans, and climate adaptation and resiliency plans
  • Draft regulatory compliance reports and technical memos
  • Support permitting efforts for natural resources and the built environment
  • Assist in the development and refinement of proposals
  • Research and apply jurisdictional requirements, codes, and policies
  • Adhere to and drive QA/QC processes and programs
  • Interface with clients, attend project and public meetings, and participate in interviews
  • Develop community engagement plans
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in environmental planning
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental studies, urban planning, or similar area of focus
