Accounts Receivable Specialist

BASIC PURPOSE:
Oversees customer credit terms and adherence; responsible for managing credit holds and releases; engages in the collection of overdue accounts; negotiates payment arrangements as necessary; maintains communication regarding collections with local sales teams, third-party collection agencies, and customers.
Assists the Credit Manager in evaluating and managing credit risks, authorizes new credit lines and/or extensions of credit limits.
Resolves moderately complex credit challenges but may require support for highly sensitive accounts.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluate and recommend credit terms for new customer accounts, ensuring that all necessary documentation is accurately completed.
Monitor outstanding accounts receivable for compliance with terms, ensuring that issues such as skips, short payments, credit memos, and unapplied cash are addressed promptly.
Develop and implement, where necessary, effective and amicable payment plans for overdue accounts.
Support the Credit Manager in ensuring adherence to all regulatory standards, including Sarbanes-Oxley controls.
Assist the Credit Manager with UCC filings as required.
Collaborate with the Sales Department and customers to resolve collections and credit-related issues.
Aid the Credit Manager in assigning and documenting uncollectible accounts for the centralized third-party collections team; recommend accounts for write-off.
Assist with credit reporting obligations.
Related Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of experience in Credit/Accounts Receivable is required. Experience in food service or similar distribution sectors is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, along with excellent organizational skills; attention to detail is essential for maintaining accurate records and meeting deadlines.
Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, is required. Strong financial analysis skills are necessary.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required for effective collaboration with individuals at all levels, both internally and externally.
