Mental Health Recovery Advocate Job Description

Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center is seeking a qualified Mental Health Recovery Advocate to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals in their mental health recovery journey.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of recovery-based supports and be able to provide coaching and mentoring to clients. They will also be responsible for linkages to social service supports, community programs, and education that aid in maintaining recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accompany clients to appointments and meetings to ensure seamless connection and prevent premature drop-out
  • Provide office support and welcome clients as they enter treatment
  • Work to improve client retention at the onset of engagement
  • Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to agency, state, and HIPAA laws
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with community agencies
  • Participate in team conferences and ensure required documentation is complete, timely, and accurate
  • Attend outreach events as directed

Requirements:

  • Completion of Peer or Recovery Coach training program (or equivalent)
  • High School Diploma / G.E.D or pursuit through Adult Education
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Self-identified person in recovery with a minimum of two years' sobriety
  • Extensive knowledge of recovery-based supports and ability to integrate resources into treatment
  • Unbiased understanding of methadone and other MATs as tools for recovery
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work with an interdisciplinary team
  • Knowledge and skills related to individual, group, and family system dynamics
  • Valid Connecticut driver's license and daily access to a car

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year
