About Our Retail Team

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our Retail Team at The Salvation Army. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for promoting a positive shopping and donor experience, enhancing customer service, problem-solving, and teamwork skills while contributing to the success of our Program and its participants.

Job Summary

The Assistant Store Manager will be responsible for taking an active role and partnering with the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation of the store. This includes:

  • Providing coaching, training, and development to store employees
  • Ensuring customer and donor needs are met by maintaining good customer and donor relations
  • Communicating any personnel issues with management
  • Ensuring store is maintained at ARC merchandising standards
  • Implementing appropriate loss prevention measures
Responsibilities

The Assistant Store Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Taking an active role and partnering with the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation of the store
  • Providing coaching, training, and development to store employees
  • Ensuring customer and donor needs are met by maintaining good customer and donor relations
  • Communicating any personnel issues with management
  • Ensuring store is maintained at ARC merchandising standards
  • Implementing appropriate loss prevention measures
  • Adequate amount of change at the beginning of each day
  • Safeguarding cash in registers and safe banking of cash receipts as per ARCC policy
  • Assisting the Store Manager in ensuring that safety measures are established and maintained consistent with ARC policy and governmental regulations
Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years of previous retail management or supervisory experience
  • The ability to accurately handle POS/cash register operations and cash transactions
  • A valid driver's license and proof of insurance
  • The ability to pass a background check, which will include criminal history and sex offender registry
Physical Demands

The Assistant Store Manager will be required to:

  • Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks, and miscellaneous carts
  • Move product up to 50lbs
  • Perform various repetitive motion tasks
Schedule

Our stores operate 7 days per week. Work schedules are determined by management and employees must be flexible to ensure adequate store coverage. Full-time associates may be scheduled to work any full-time shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
