Job Overview

Position Summary:

The role of Housekeeping is vital for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of designated properties within the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council. This position involves monitoring cleaning supplies, restocking as necessary, and executing a variety of cleaning tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive floor care, including vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, and spot cleaning carpets across all office areas. This also encompasses dusting and surface cleaning.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the Main Office and assigned centers, ensuring that office spaces, hallways, restrooms, staircases, classrooms, and common areas are kept in pristine condition.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste materials.
  • Conduct regular inspections of assigned locations to uphold cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Manage carpet and hard floor maintenance, including window cleaning at the main entrance.
  • As needed, perform cleaning and sanitization following any outbreaks and gain familiarity with the necessary equipment.
  • Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and assist with procurement processes as directed.
  • Support housekeeping operations at additional sites when required.
  • Guarantee that all waste receptacles are covered and that doors are child-proof to comply with safety inspections.

Additional Responsibilities at Head Start Centers:

  • Restock cleaning supplies as instructed.
  • Communicate with the Facility Manager regarding safety issues, hazards, and repair needs.
  • Assist with various cross-functional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with standard housekeeping practices and techniques.
  • Strong ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Possession of a valid Massachusetts driver's license.
  • Effective communication skills with both administrative and center staff.
  • Capability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Access to a personal vehicle for transportation purposes.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Submission of documentation for a current physical examination, negative TB test, and proof of MMR immunity is required. Hepatitis B immunity is recommended. An EEC Background Record Check will be necessary.
  • Must have a valid CORI, SORI, and DCF background check on file prior to employment.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and identities, including underserved communities, in alignment with the agency's mission to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for both employees and clients.
