Voice of Witness is a nonprofit organization that utilizes the transformative power of storytelling to advance human rights. Our mission is centered around amplifying the voices of marginalized communities and promoting social justice through deep listening and learning.

  • We provide students and communities with the tools and training to tell their own stories through oral history;
  • We offer expert storytelling and program support to nonprofits, advocates, schools, foundations, and more.

Our VOW Book Series showcases human rights issues through edited oral histories of individuals who are most deeply impacted by injustice. The series explores issues of race-, gender-, and class-based inequity through personal narrative. We also offer customized projects and workshops using our award-winning approach to promote empathy, build relationships, and amplify community voices.
