Job Overview:

The Senior Underwriter at AmTrust Financial Services plays a pivotal role in administering the underwriting and servicing of new and renewal accounts for assigned Nonprofit agents and producers. This position requires a deep understanding of Company underwriting, authority, and pricing standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Write and retain a profitable book of business through solid risk analysis, pricing, and servicing.
  • Maintain compliance with state filings and adhere to corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines.
  • Operate within written authority grants and make referrals to Nonprofit and Home Office Underwriting as required.
  • Collaborate closely with Nonprofit teams, keeping peers and management informed of all issues and activity.
  • In collaboration with Nonprofit Management, develop and implement business plans for assigned agents and geographic areas, sharing accountability with the team in meeting goals.
  • Coach agents on underwriting appetite and protocols in conjunction with corporate training guidelines.
  • Cultivate outside client relationships by collaborating with the Nonprofit and Regional teams, traveling to meet with agents, producers, and nonprofit associations or organizations, and participating in industry events as required.
  • Provide professional, timely, and courteous communication and service to external clients and cross-departmental staff to resolve issues pertaining to policyholders and agents.
  • Supply pertinent information and guidance to support staff processing coverage requests according to service guidelines.
  • Assist in gathering and communicating competitive information.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of commercial lines property and casualty experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated experience with and expert technical knowledge of characteristic exposures of nonprofit organizations.
  • Technical command of underwriting liability, professional, property, automobile, and umbrella exposures of nonprofit organizations.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze information to make informed risk selections and pricing decisions.
  • Ability to participate in and contribute to nonprofit business planning.
  • Respect for confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Enjoyment of being part of a team of like-minded nonprofit insurance professionals.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned territory and to the Home Office as required.
  • CPCU or CIC designation.
