POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general guidance of the Practice Manager and direct supervision of healthcare providers, the role involves supporting patient evaluations and care, ensuring accurate documentation, maintaining clinical environments, and executing various clinical tasks. The focus is on delivering exceptional service that enhances the experience of patients and their families, with a strong emphasis on patient-centered care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct comprehensive nursing evaluations relevant to the patient's primary concerns, including vital signs and other necessary measurements, documenting findings accurately and notifying the provider of any significant issues.
  • Review and document patient medications during each visit.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, providing appropriate explanations and reassurance tailored to their age.
  • Deliver patient education based on identified needs related to diagnoses, procedures, and home care.
  • Operate within the scope of education and adhere to practice policies and procedures.
  • Manage and replenish clinical supplies as needed.
  • Monitor inventory to prevent loss and ensure efficient use of equipment and supplies.
  • Regularly check and maintain equipment, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to quality control standards.
  • Exhibit knowledge of sterile techniques and universal precautions as necessary.
  • Perform laboratory tests as requested and ensure proper documentation for follow-up.
  • Welcome patients and escort them to examination areas.
  • Conduct the history and physical examination, recording both objective and subjective data.
  • Assist healthcare providers with procedures as directed.
  • Prepare and maintain cleanliness in patient areas, including equipment setup and post-procedure cleanup.
  • Administer and document medications as per physician orders.
  • Support patient discharge processes.
  • Conduct follow-up assessments via phone, coordinating with physicians as needed.
  • Process prescriptions for pharmacies, ensuring proper handling of controlled substances.
  • Maintain inventory of necessary supplies and medications for daily operations.
  • Ensure completion of patient consent forms for applicable procedures.
  • Exhibit professionalism in communication with patients, healthcare providers, and staff.
  • Log sample medications according to established policies.
  • Establish and maintain patient medical records in compliance with the EMR system.
  • Document patient information accurately in designated EMR sections.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and uphold privacy rights.
  • Contribute to the development and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Assist in creating a safe and clean environment for patients and colleagues.
  • Identify clinical concerns and recommend solutions or take action as necessary.
  • Adapt to changes in workload, staffing, and scheduling with flexibility.
  • Demonstrate commitment to patient safety through proper equipment use and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Support the hospital's mission, vision, and values in all activities.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program and credentialing through recognized associations is required.
  • Recent graduates may be considered but must obtain credentialing within a specified timeframe.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire.

EXPERIENCE

  • Preferred: One year of experience in a medical office setting.
  • Required: Demonstrated ability to assist with medical procedures.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

  • Ability to travel independently across facilities.
  • Proficient in using office and medical equipment.
  • Capable of manual tasks related to patient care.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical activities such as walking and bending.
