Peanut Equipment Maintenance Specialist

Job Responsibilities
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated professional for the role of Equipment Maintenance Technician/Peanut Inspector. This position is essential in servicing and maintaining peanut grading machinery, ensuring compliance with established specifications and tolerances. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting evaluations to confirm equipment functionality.
- Replacing or repairing components as necessary.
- Prioritizing and responding to service requests efficiently.
- Assisting in inventory management of equipment, electrical motors, sizing screens, peanut counters, and other essential parts.
- Performing peanut inspection and sampling duties.
- Providing support in the grinding room as required.
This role is physically demanding and may require overtime and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Shift work at the local peanut shelling facility may also be necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should possess knowledge and experience as a mechanic, machinist, or installer and repairer of various equipment types. Advanced skills in equipment repair and maintenance are essential. Familiarity with manufacturing, production, quality control, or agricultural practices, particularly related to the peanut industry, is advantageous. However, candidates willing to learn federal and state regulations will receive training. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required, along with strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Additional Considerations
Related training, certifications, or coursework, along with experience in a warehousing or agricultural setting or within a federal or state inspection program, is preferred. Experience with peanut grading equipment is also beneficial. An equivalent combination of training and experience that demonstrates the necessary knowledge and abilities may substitute for formal education.
