Role Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Cytometry Equipment Specialist to deliver essential scientific and operational assistance as part of a collaborative laboratory service team. This position primarily focuses on supporting cytometry and FACS apparatus while providing assistance to scientists and operators as needed. The role also encompasses various laboratory responsibilities that demand meticulous attention to detail to ensure high-quality service delivery.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine maintenance on FACS equipment, ensuring timely instrument startup and shutdown, as well as quality control and assurance of cytometers in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve common issues related to FACS equipment.
  • Manage inventory and order essential supplies, coordinating service visits from technicians for non-routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Assist in scheduling and managing calendars, as well as operating cytometers and sorters.
  • Respond to inquiries and workflows from flow labs to guarantee consistency and prompt resolution.
  • Become proficient with all software utilized within the facility.
  • Demonstrate proper use of relevant equipment following training.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, security protocols, and environmental standards in daily operations.


Essential Qualifications:

  • Proven knowledge of flow cytometry systems.
  • Ability to work in a laboratory setting that requires personal protective equipment.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 0-2 years of experience in a scientific or laboratory environment, or
  • Associate Degree with 2+ years of experience in a scientific or laboratory environment, or
  • High School Diploma with 2+ years of experience in a scientific or laboratory environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Knowledge of cell culture techniques.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain a fast-paced work environment with high demands for task completion.
  • Must be able to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Occasional movement between labs and buildings, requiring bending, squatting, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, with potential for occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision capabilities required for this position include the ability to observe details at close range and adjust focus.
  • Occasional operation of office machinery, including computers and printers.
  • May require handling hazardous waste in compliance with regulations.
  • Potential exposure to lab hazards, including extreme temperatures and biological materials.
