Job Summary

The Patient Access Technician plays a vital role in the revenue cycle process at Children's Hospital of The Kings Daughters. This position requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in collecting and documenting patient data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greets and assists patients and visitors, providing clear instructions and directions to ensure a smooth experience.
  • Facilitates the registration process, including insurance verification, co-payment collection, and data entry for billing purposes.
  • Collaborates with various departments to ensure accurate and timely information exchange.
  • Conducts pre-registration and insurance verification for hospital services.
  • Provides coverage to assigned registration locations as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-3 years of related work experience preferred.
  • Minimum of six months customer service experience required, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of third-party payers, ICD-9/CPT coding, and medical terminology preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary for effective communication and information exchange.
  • Proficiency in computer keyboarding skills required.

Working Conditions

The Patient Access Technician works in a normal office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature fluctuations.
