Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Protection Specialist to join our team at the Department of the Navy. As a key member of our environmental planning program, you will be responsible for developing and overseeing environmental projects, analyzing budgets, and ensuring compliance with strict environmental laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with marine species and natural resources program managers to develop and implement environmental projects
  • Analyze budgets and financial plans to ensure effective use of resources
  • Oversee service providers and prioritize projects to meet goals
  • Coordinate with supporting organizations and financial analysts to budget for current and future environmental projects
  • Present budget briefs and provide justification to defend budget positions
  • Act as a subject matter expert in the creation of Navy policy, guidance, and directives
  • Draft and propose changes to DoD policy, instructions, and guidance relevant to the Environmental Planning Program
Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
  • Must meet time-in-grade requirements
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance
Qualifications

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Relevant experience includes developing and overseeing environmental planning programs, performing budget analysis and planning, supporting training and/or exercise schedules, or creating solutions to program issues to ensure compliance with strict environmental laws and regulations.

Additional Information

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Pay retention may be granted when certain conditions are met. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.
