**Job Title:** Patient Care Specialist - Medical Unit

**Location:** Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center

**Work Schedule:** Part-time, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Patient Care Specialist to join our Medical Unit team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of our nursing staff. Your duties will include feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, and moving patients, as well as changing linens and transferring or transporting patients when necessary.

**Responsibilities:**

* Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure seamless care coordination and successful patient outcomes.
* Precept new team members on job functions and provide ongoing support and education.
* Orient patients to the hospital environment and routine, ensuring a smooth transition to our care.
* Participate in unit quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of excellence.
* Document all aspects of patient care in a timely and accurate manner.
* Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide care in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
* Label and deliver specimens as required by hospital policy.
* Maintain a safe environment, adhering to NLH policies and procedures, and report any environmental hazards or patient safety concerns.

**Credentials:**

* Required: Certified Nursing Assistant

**Education:**

* Required: High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED)

**Working Conditions:**

* Lifting, moving, and loading up to 50 pounds.
