Key Responsibilities
  • Welcoming and greeting patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Registering new patients and updating existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information.
  • Collecting patients' co-payments, deductibles, and co-insurance and recording receipt in our database.
  • Facilitating patient flow by notifying the technician of patients' arrival and communicating with patients and radiology staff.
  • Scheduling appointments in person or by telephone using our electronic medical records system.
  • Comforting patients by anticipating their anxieties and answering their questions.
  • Responding to inquiries from patients, prospective patients, and visitors in a courteous manner.
  • Maintaining knowledge of and working in compliance with all HIPAA guidelines.
  • Protecting patient confidentiality by securing protected health information and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended.
  • Keeping the reception area clean and organized.
  • Performing related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years' experience in a medical office preferred.
  • Medical Administrative Assistant Certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of office procedures and patient receptionist check-in processes.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent typing and computer usage skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to learn electronic medical record systems.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone and in person with co-workers, patients, customers, and other visitors.
  • Light physical effort. Requires long periods of sitting. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
