Job Overview:

The City of Newport is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to become part of the Finance Department as a Financial Records Technician. In this role, you will manage various accounting and administrative responsibilities related to financial receivables, including transient room tax, business licenses, airport leases, and additional billing tasks.

  • Conduct monthly reconciliations for receivable accounts to ensure accuracy with the General Ledger.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Provide support for front desk reception duties as required.
  • Oversee collection efforts for overdue invoices and outstanding accounts.

Qualifications:

A combination of education and experience is necessary for this position. A high school diploma with some college coursework in accounting or finance, along with three years of relevant experience, or an Associate's Degree with at least one year of experience is preferred.

  • Strong time management, analytical, and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to manage complex financial documentation.
