Position Overview


JOB SUMMARY: The Nurse Lactation Consultant is responsible for overseeing lactation management initiatives and delivering expert nursing care in the lactation domain to patients and their families. This role includes providing initial and ongoing lactation education to obstetrical personnel and other healthcare team members.

Work Schedule: This is a Part-Time Evening position, requiring a commitment of 24 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should possess a foundational professional knowledge equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, along with a comprehensive understanding of theory and practice in a specialized area. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing from CCNE accredited institutions is required, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in maternal and newborn care. Certification as an IBCLC or as a Breastfeeding Counselor with plans to pursue IBCLC certification is essential. A valid Maryland Registered Nurse License and American Heart Association BLS Certification are mandatory. IBCLC certification must be achieved within 6 months to 1 year from the date of hire. A minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience is required.
