POSITION SUMMARY:


Under the guidance of the District Manager, the Senior Electrical Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting transmission operations and maintenance. This position involves the development of operational procedures, conducting analytical assessments, and performing facility condition evaluations to ensure optimal equipment performance.

The engineer will apply established programs, policies, and procedures to uphold compliance with transmission reliability standards. Furthermore, the Senior Engineer will provide interpretation and guidance to operations and maintenance teams regarding transmission maintenance challenges.

Key responsibilities may include the implementation of compliance initiatives for various reliability standards, potentially earning recognition as a Technical Expert (TE) or Subject Matter Expert (SME).


JOB FUNCTION:


Design and develop plans, specifications, and evaluation standards while conducting engineering studies pertinent to the design, operation, and upkeep of regional transmission systems.

Focus on formulating maintenance and testing strategies for transmission equipment or systems.

Oversee project management and engineering tasks for specialized projects aimed at maintaining compliance and ensuring the ongoing operation and maintenance of regional utilities transmission facilities.

Collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders to identify, define, or resolve practical challenges in support of transmission design, maintenance processes, and compliance initiatives.

Ensure adherence to various reliability standards, including but not limited to CIP, COM, EOP, FAC, IRO, PRC, or Texas Infrastructure and Reliability regulations (16 TAC 25).

Develop and implement training programs for transmission personnel to guarantee compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, alongside industry best practices and standards.

Maintain thorough record-keeping and retention practices to meet regulatory, internal, and other requirements.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work in both outdoor and office environments.
Provide technical assistance to field technicians concerning maintenance and restoration activities as necessary.
Supervise maintenance and construction projects as required.
Commit to safe work practices in all aspects of the role.
Ensure compliance with all applicable NERC, ERCOT, TRE, and Texas PUC reliability standards, operating rules, and regulations.
Dedicated to fostering a highly skilled and diverse workforce.

Pass Personnel Risk Assessment before hire and every seven years thereafter.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Exceptional organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written).
Ability to manage multiple priorities and make informed decisions.
The ideal candidate will be a mature self-starter, service-oriented, and professional in demeanor and attitude.
A valid Texas driver's license and a clean driving record.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft 365 Apps (e.g., Word, Excel, Teams, etc.).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program (or recognized equivalency).
8 years of post-graduate or combined technical experience.
Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies required for this engineering position.
EIT/FE (Certificate of Engineer in Training or Fundamentals of Engineering Exam) preferred.
PE (Professional Engineer) registration is preferred.
