Position Overview

The ideal candidate will excel in a dynamic environment, embrace new challenges, and demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills. A strong attention to detail and proficiency in virtual collaboration tools are essential. The Loan Officer will play a crucial role in guiding individuals and businesses through the funding process by evaluating loan requests, analyzing financial information, assessing potential risks, and overseeing projects to ensure efficient processing.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assess and analyze loan applications to determine creditworthiness, financial health, and associated risks, including thorough reviews of credit histories and financial statements to provide informed recommendations.
  2. Prequalify and manage referrals from the HomeOwnership Center, ensuring alignment with appropriate lending options for clients, including those utilizing assistance programs.
  3. Source, secure, underwrite, and finalize residential and small business loans and grants in accordance with organizational lending protocols, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  4. Maintain a thorough understanding of lending programs, industry benchmarks, and regulatory requirements to effectively manage credit and portfolio performance.
  5. Conduct orientations and provide counseling for program participants, identifying their needs and offering guidance on available financial solutions.
  6. Oversee and manage the loan portfolio, including monitoring payments, addressing delinquencies, and collaborating with clients and internal teams to resolve any issues.
  7. Deliver outstanding customer service, assist with mortgage applications and modifications, and provide administrative support through record-keeping, data management, appointment scheduling, and report generation.

Qualifications:

  • NeighborWorks America certifications to be obtained within the first year of employment.
  • Availability for flexible work hours, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and well-organized.
  • Mortgage license preferred for the role of Mortgage Loan Officer.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus.
