Brunel is seeking a skilled Project Controls Specialist to enhance our Capital PMO team, focusing on the West Texas region. The ideal candidate will be adept at executing all necessary project controls throughout the entire project life cycle, while delivering insightful reporting and analysis to facilitate informed decision-making.

Industry: Oil & Gas

Work location: Remote and in-office hybrid schedule

Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Worktype: Contract-to-Hire

Estimated Duration: One year with potential for extension based on performance and project requirements

Compensation: Hourly rate with overtime pay

Role Overview:

This position will be integral in supporting the scheduling and financial oversight of projects in the West Texas area. Candidates should possess experience in relevant sectors or applicable construction capital projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining the cost analysis application database.
  • Facilitate new initiatives related to cost management and analysis.
  • Generate comprehensive Project and Program cost reports for the Project Managers.
  • Identify and resolve cost-related issues.
  • Review monthly discrepancies and errors in the integration process.
  • Develop and manage budgets while monitoring expenditures.
  • Define and maintain project work breakdown and cost breakdown structures in collaboration with the engineering team.
  • Track and report current construction project costs, estimates at completion, and variances.
  • Monitor incurred and projected costs against authorized funding and identify necessary adjustments.
  • Prepare reports for monthly accrual and reforecast meetings to update management and coordinate with accounting.
  • Support the preparation of monthly accruals and forecasts for all managed projects.
  • Maintain a scope change log and ensure adherence to the scope change process.
  • Utilize detailed project schedules to develop time-phased cost forecasts.
  • Create consolidated baseline schedules to support the project execution team.
  • Monitor construction progress and provide periodic updates to stakeholders.
  • Oversee project construction schedules to identify anomalies and provide detailed analysis as needed.
  • Foster effective relationships with company teams, contractor representatives, and stakeholders to ensure informed planning activities.
  • Prepare and distribute routine bi-weekly and monthly reports on all assigned construction project expenses.
  • Compile detailed ad-hoc reports as required.
  • Participate in the contractor selection process by providing feedback on previous performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety measures by all personnel and contractors.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in project controls, ideally within the oil and gas or construction sectors.
  • Proficiency in cost analysis tools and database management.
  • Experience with Primavera P6, SAP, and Ares Prism.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
