Job Summary

This role involves the accurate accounting of capital and fixed asset transactions, including buildings, equipment, land, and improvements for designated campuses and departments. It provides analytical and administrative support for the management and compilation of capital project budgets, utilizing capital accounting codes and funding sources.

Key Responsibilities

35% - Monitor and approve expenditures from budgets and various capital asset projects.
30% - Advise campuses and departments on recording accounting transactions and maintaining fiscal records; assist in training for internal and external stakeholders.
15% - Prepare and review budget and accounting journal vouchers and reports related to capital projects and fixed assets.
10% - Develop recommendations and provide various analytical accounting schedules, projections, reports, and materials for assigned campuses and departments.
10% - Assist in the development, evaluation, and recommendation of revisions to accounting and fiscal budget procedures and processes; perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related field and two (2) years of experience applying GAAP theory and practice, familiarity with tax laws relevant to accounting transactions and reporting, and proficiency in computerized accounting systems.

OR

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and four (4) years of experience applying GAAP theory and practice, familiarity with tax laws relevant to accounting transactions and reporting, and proficiency in computerized accounting systems.

OR

High School Diploma/GED and six (6) years of experience applying GAAP theory and practice, familiarity with tax laws relevant to accounting transactions and reporting, and proficiency in computerized accounting systems.

Desired Qualifications

A. Two (2) or more years of experience in capital asset accounting.
B. One (1) or more years of experience in a higher education environment.
C. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Accounting.
D. Experience with Oracle Financial Management System (FMS).
E. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Special Working Conditions

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum driving standards.

May be required to work at multiple sites or locations.

Evening and weekend work may be necessary.

Prolonged periods of sitting and viewing a computer monitor may be required.
