About the Role:

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Receptionist and Customer Service Representative plays a vital role in delivering outstanding service at The Salvation Army. This position involves answering phone calls in a friendly and professional manner, directing inquiries to the appropriate personnel, and ensuring the safety and security of the facility. The representative is responsible for maintaining accurate logs of visitors and monitoring activities through the security system. Additionally, this role includes greeting clients, staff, and guests, as well as performing clerical tasks such as filing and typing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Creates a welcoming environment at the front desk, representing The Salvation Army positively and professionally.
  • Handles incoming calls, transferring them as necessary, and responding to messages promptly.
  • Provides accurate information regarding services and program eligibility to clients and community partners.
  • Addresses inquiries and concerns from clients and guests, ensuring timely and professional responses, and escalating issues to management when needed.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • An Associate degree in Business, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a fast-paced environment handling a telephone switchboard is desirable.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge will be considered.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Must be able to meet attendance requirements and communicate effectively in English. The role requires the ability to operate a telephone and perform basic mathematical tasks. Work is primarily conducted in an office setting with minimal physical discomforts.
