About the Role:

Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Receptionist plays a crucial role in delivering outstanding customer service at The Salvation Army. This position involves answering phone calls with professionalism, ensuring the safety and security of the facility, and maintaining accurate logs of visitors. The Receptionist will monitor security systems for any unusual activities and warmly greet clients, staff, and guests. Additionally, clerical tasks such as typing and filing will be part of the responsibilities, along with providing essential information about the organization's services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver a welcoming front desk experience, embodying the values of The Salvation Army and fostering a friendly environment for all visitors.
  • Manage incoming calls efficiently, directing them to the correct personnel, and ensuring timely responses to messages.
  • Offer comprehensive customer service support, clearly explaining program eligibility and connecting clients with appropriate resources.
  • Address inquiries and concerns from clients and community partners promptly and professionally, escalating issues to management when necessary.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • An Associate degree in Business, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a fast-paced telephone switchboard environment is desirable.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the necessary skills and knowledge will also be considered.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Ability to meet attendance expectations and communicate effectively in English. Proficiency in operating a telephone and performing basic mathematical tasks is essential. The work is conducted in a standard office setting with minimal physical discomforts. Duties are primarily performed while seated, with opportunities for brief standing or walking as needed.
