This is a hybrid role with a base in Charlotte, NC - Often travel will be expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the regional team of margin and cost analysts and provide front-line support to the regional commercial team.
  2. Develop and implement strategies to maximize profitability, analyze cost structures, pricing strategies, and ensure that margin targets are met.
  3. Collaborate with various departments, including finance, sales, and operations, to drive financial performance and support strategic decision-making.
  4. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the contribution margins, gross margins, and cash costs – including logistics costs – for all product lines.
  5. Analyze cost structures and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  6. Oversee the preparation and analysis of detailed margin reports.
  7. Manage the timeliness and accuracy of reporting by the margin and cost analysts.
  8. Review and analyze variances across plants, products, and the region.
  9. Monitor inventory cycle count program and conduct periodic cycle count audits.
  10. Establish improved processes for margin analysis, inventory, and cost operations.
  11. Participate in internal and external audits.
  12. Collaborate with senior management to develop margin targets and financial forecasts.
  13. Monitor and analyze product and service margins, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  14. Develop and evaluate pricing strategies to maximize profitability.
  15. Conduct competitive analysis to ensure pricing remains competitive yet profitable.
  16. Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to margins.
  17. Implement corrective actions to address margin shortfalls.
  18. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of analysts and other finance professionals.
  19. Set performance goals and conduct regular performance reviews.
  20. Ensure the team has the necessary tools and resources to perform effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of education experience with strong knowledge of COGS, margin analysis, and costing.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a finance department.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Commercial application of accounting standards (e.g. US GAAP).
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills and time management skills.
  • Detailed orientated.
  • Strong computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • JD Edwards experience preferred.
  • MBA or other advanced degree.
  • Supporting decisions and influencing business counterparts.
  • Experience in manufacturing or similar industry preferred.
  • Qualified accountant is a plus.
