Position Overview

The Licensed Practical Nurse II (LPN II) plays a crucial role in delivering quality care within the Pediatric Gastroenterology Clinic. This position operates under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Physician, or Advanced Practice Nurse, ensuring adherence to established nursing standards and legal guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care while following national and specialty nursing standards.
  • Conduct patient assessments, including obtaining vital signs and documenting care accurately.
  • Assist in the execution of clinical procedures and interventions as directed by supervising healthcare professionals.
  • Engage with patients and families, providing education on care plans and medication administration.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment by adhering to infection control protocols.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED, along with completion of a minimum one-year vocational/technical training program in nursing.

Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant nursing experience is required.

Skills: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with children and families. Proficiency in performing technical nursing functions and recognizing changes in patient conditions.

Licenses and Certifications

Must possess a valid Licensed Practical Nurse license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.

Work Environment

This position is classified as PRN (as needed), offering flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of the clinic and its patients.
