About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Vacuum Design Engineer II to join our team at Anderson Dahlen. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing vacuum-related products and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop vacuum-related products and systems, including components, chambers, and process equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, sourcing, quality, and project management, to ensure design meets manufacturability capabilities and customer requirements.
  • Perform engineering calculations to size components and process equipment, ensuring they meet performance requirements such as sealing surfaces, flow rate, stress, fatigue, pressure, vacuum, and other parameters.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, models, bills of material, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their requirements and provide design solutions that meet their needs.
  • Stay up-to-date with research and development in manufacturing technology, including fabrication, welding, laser, finishing, and assembly.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Machine Design, Process Design, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment related to vacuum equipment or vacuum processing.
  • AAS degree in relevant field with 10 years of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment related to vacuum equipment or vacuum processing.
  • Experience with ultra-high vacuum product design and manufacturing required.
  • Direct experience and capabilities for design and manufacture of custom components, chambers, and process systems preferred.
  • Experience with Vacuum Pumps, Vacuum Leak Checking, Residual Gas Analysis beneficial.
  • Solid experience with product design and manufacturing, specifically Design For Manufacturing (DFM).
  • 3D CAD required (preferably Solid Works).
  • Knowledge of GD&T principles strongly preferred.
  • Project management, product development, and leadership skills essential.
  • Experience with customer interaction and working under time constraints a definite plus.
  • Experience with software/controls engineering and system design principles a plus.
  • Knowledge of ASME calculations beneficial.
  • Knowledge of FEA preferred.
  • Experience with FMEA, DVP&R, Quality Control, Site-Installation beneficial.
  • Professional work experience reviewing and analyzing prototypes and product modifications preferred.
