The Manufacturing Engineer II at Mate Precision Technologies is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating manufacturing processes in a fast-paced production facility.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement efficient manufacturing processes, programs, and methods to improve productivity and quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including planning and design staff, to ensure the use of optimal production methods and tools.
- Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange the purchase of equipment, materials, and parts, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Estimate production times and related costs to provide data-driven insights for management decisions.
- Communicate effectively with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Utilize CAD and CAM software, including Solidworks and/or Esprit, to design and optimize manufacturing processes.
- Analyze drawings, sketches, and design data to determine dimensions, configuration, and cutting tool selection.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles, including value stream mapping, 5S, and Kaizen events, to optimize production processes.
- Develop and maintain process sheets, cutter lists, and machine programs to guide machine setup and operation.
- Read and validate machine programs to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Observe machine operation during trial runs to ensure correct setup and programming.
- Manage smaller project tasks and assignments, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Utilize ERP systems to complete cost audits, understanding bills of materials, routings, and cycle times.
- Collaborate with colleagues, demonstrating open-mindedness, responsiveness, and support for others' efforts.
- Demonstrate integrity by being dependable, having good judgment, being honest, and taking responsibility for actions.
- Respect colleagues, encouraging idea-sharing, active listening, and common courtesy.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or university, or four to six years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of peers, clients, and customers.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
- Frequent computer work.
- Lift and move up to 40 lbs. occasionally.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Pay Range: $80,000 - $85,000/year.
