Join Our Team as a Power Systems Engineer

We are seeking a driven and proactive individual to become a vital member of our innovative team as a Power Systems Engineer. In this position, you will serve as the key liaison between electrical and engineering departments, supporting both our standard production operations and custom projects as necessary. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that projects meet all timelines and budgetary constraints. You will be tasked with developing designs, proposing effective solutions, and accurately generating Bills of Materials (BOMs) with efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct calculations pertinent to control panel design, including power distribution, and document Electrical Load Analyses (ELAs) for single, dual, and three-phase applications.
  • Develop solutions aimed at enhancing efficiency and repeatability.
  • Design and refine control panel and electrical device layouts.
  • Create comprehensive wiring diagrams using SolidWorks Electrical, adhering to ANSI & IEC standards.
  • Generate and implement engineering change orders.
  • Compile Bills of Materials that align with customer specifications and system requirements.
  • Establish and maintain work procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant IEC, NEC, CE, and IPC standards, including UL508A & UL61010.
  • Troubleshoot existing designs and propose innovative improvements for efficiency and surge capacity, along with testing and manufacturing throughput.
  • Assist in resolving field wiring issues in collaboration with electricians.
  • Define electrical components for use in electrical control systems.
  • Review and provide feedback on supplier data as necessary.
  • Design alternative or replacement parts for existing equipment.
  • Collaborate with purchasing to ensure part availability and cost-effectiveness.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in 2D CAD software is essential, with a strong preference for SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Solid understanding of industrial control systems is required.
  • Expertise in electrical wiring troubleshooting is necessary.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience designing schematics for electrical control panels is preferred.
  • Experience in Wire Harness Design is a plus.
  • Familiarity with electrical codes, including NFPA 79, NEC, and UL 61010 / UL 508A, is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge are required.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.
  • Meticulous attention to detail is required.
  • Awareness of current trends in electrical engineering is beneficial.
