About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Chef to join our team at Arboretum. As a Senior Chef, you will play a key role in establishing and maintaining a reputation for freshly prepared produce cooked with care and imagination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in providing leadership for a team with a passion for food and an interest in learning and development.
  • Act as a role model in the production and presentation of dishes at all times.
  • Develop the meal experience as one of the main selling features for breakfast and carvery lunch meal services at Arboretum.
  • Take overall responsibility for the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef and/or Sous Chef.
  • Monitor all dishes prepared from the kitchen and ensure they conform to agreed standards prior to food service.
  • Foster a culture of on-the-job training, where progressive young people will want to learn and train in our kitchen.
  • Agree, implement, and maintain HACCP procedures (including cleaning schedules) in liaison with the Head Chef and Sous Chef.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment, fixtures, and fittings are in good working order and that no item of equipment is misused or used by staff not trained to use such equipment.
  • Foster a team spirit and be a good communicator.
Requirements
  • Full understanding of disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • Attend training sessions as required.
  • Ensure all staff report for duty on time and dressed in full uniform to the required standard.
  • Ensure all staff perform their duties in a friendly, efficient, and courteous manner to customers and colleagues alike.
  • Ensure a high standard of personal hygiene at all times in terms of grooming and the wearing of proper attire.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of all health and safety regulations and how they relate to the premises.
  • Seek opportunities to develop yourself in relation to technical training and professional development.
  • Read, understand, and carry out your responsibilities as defined in the Health and Safety Statement and Staff Handbook.
  • Be aware of and comply with the Kitchen Policy regarding fire, health and safety, security, hygiene, and customer care.
