Job Description

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Practice Manager to lead our Ambulatory Cardiology team. As a clinical and administrative leader, you will oversee multiple APP teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, research, education, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support APP teams in their day-to-day operations and quality of output.
  • Design and implement APP staffing models, incorporating benchmark data and LEAN methodology.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct regular APP group meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Act as a liaison between UVA APPs and departmental leadership, facilitating communication and ensuring alignment with goals.
  • Partner with other UVA Health leaders to ensure fiduciary obligations are met and proper fiscal management is in place.
  • Assist with recruitment, serving as the primary hiring manager, and collaborate with Human Resources to monitor and evaluate turnover and recruiting issues.
  • Perform annual performance reviews for department/team APPs, conduct disciplinary performance reviews, and action planning.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements specific to the practice areas managed.
  • Construct, implement, and evaluate APP onboarding within their designated team.

Requirements:

  • Master's or Doctorate in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) or Master's or Doctorate in Science (Physician Assistant or Radiologist Assistant).
  • 5 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Certified Nurse Midwife, Radiologist Assistant, or Physician Assistant.
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia and licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, or Certified Nurse Midwife in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia or licensed to practice as a Radiologist Assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification and American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) required for selected clinical practice settings.

Physical Demands:

  • Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently walking/bending/stooping.
  • Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull 20-50lbs.
